Frost a glass with sugar (and anything else you like)
Frosting a glass with sugar is very simple! We'll teach you how to do it perfectly, and How to personalize your frosting!

What you need
Sugar or salt, or better yet
A saucer/plate
Pour your sugar, salt, or whatever you're pouring onto a saucer or plate. Use plenty to ensure the rim is well covered. The circle of powder should be larger than the rim of your glass.

Something to moisten the glass
Cover the rim of the glass with sugar
- Moisten the rim of the glass: Using a citrus wedge, slowly and steadily rub the rim of the glass. Alternatively, use syrup : Pour the syrup onto a plate and gently dip your glass into it.
- Hold the glass upside down and firmly dip it in your sugar, salt, or powder. Do this as if the rim of the glass were coated with ink and you were trying to stamp a perfect circle in the powder.
- Should you swirl it? Some bartenders only dip the glass once, but most swirl it to get more sugar on the rim. Whatever you do, don't swirl it more than once, or the powder you've stuck on will fall off.

What else but salt and sugar?
- Cocoa: Perfect for chocolate martinis, and any cocktail with chocolate!
- Coconut flakes đ„„: Excellent for exotic cocktails, especially coconut ones!
- Cinnamon sugar: Delicious with many cocktails - think of those that use liqueurs like Kahlua, Baileys, orange or chocolate.
- Spicy border #1 đ¶ïž: Mix 1 part fleur de sel with 1 part chili powder (your favorite) to create a fantastic spicy and tangy border.
- Spicy border #2: Mix equal parts fleur de sel, paprika, onion powder and garlic powder. Very rich in flavor.
- Sweet and spicy: Mix chili and cocoa powders, delicious with many chocolate drinks.
- Celery salt: Perfect for a Bloody Mary.
- Crushed cookies đȘ: Choose your favorite cookies and turn them into powder! They'll add a lovely texture and flavor to your cocktails! (We recommend speculoos or cinnamon cookies)
- Cake decorations: Small sugar decorations for cakes add lots of color to your cocktail party!
- Colored sugar: Fantastic! You can choose the color. Put sugar and food coloring in a blender and blend gently until you get the desired color. You can mix the two if you don't have a blender. The color won't change the taste but can indirectly affect the aromas you'll perceive.
- Powdered ginger: Mix equal parts sugar and powdered ginger for a very interesting taste.
- Any powdered drink: Their concentrated flavor can be excellent. Not all powdered drinks have the right texture to cling to the glass; if it doesn't cling with citrus, then use syrup. Mint hot chocolate powder creates a mint chocolate rim, absolutely perfect for the Grasshopper cocktail.
- As mentioned before, anything resembling powder is suitable for the creation of a glass outline. So you can use your imagination! Don't hesitate to send us a message if you've come up with a great idea đ.

What else but syrup?
- Fruits:Â Any fruit containing juice will do, as long as it's at least somewhat sticky! So grab your favorite fruits and test how they taste when you put the powder on them.
- Alcohols: You can usually use one of the alcohols in your cocktail to moisten the rim of your glass. Make sure it's sticky enough for the powder you'll be dipping your glass in. Liqueurs generally work wonderfully for this.
- Which syrup: again, it's up to you to determine which syrup will be best with your cocktail... If your cocktail already contains a syrup, you can be sure that using that one to rim the glass will be a good choice. If you want a syrup with a neutral taste, agave syrup đ±Â is excellent, as is sugar syrup. Otherwise, the choices that go well with most cocktails are strawberry, raspberry, pineapple, lychee, and lemon syrups.
Congratulations! You are now a glass frosting expert.
