    A Kir is a popular French cocktail made with white wine (usually Aligoté) and crème de cassis (blackcurrant liqueur), typically served in a wine glass. It is often prepared by simply stirring the ingredients, but there are also variations where sparkling water or champagne is added for extra fizz. It is named after Félix Kir, the mayor of Dijon, who was fond of serving it as an aperitif.

    There are other variations such as Kir Royal which is made with champagne instead of white wine.

    It's a simple, refreshing and fruity cocktail , perfect as an aperitif or to accompany seafood dishes or salads.

    Ingredients :

    (Per glass)

    • 10cl of white wine (usually Aligoté)
    • 2cl of crème de cassis

    Preparing Kir:

    1. Pour the white wine into a wine glass .
    2. Add crème de cassis to taste, usually 1 oz for a standard kir.
    3. Mix gently.
    4. Serve immediately.

    Optional: You can add a small amount of sparkling water for more bubbles and refreshment.

    Note: It's important to use a dry white wine to balance the sweetness of the crème de cassis. Aligoté is the white wine traditionally used to make Kir, but you can use other dry white wines such as Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.
